Surviving Summer: Tips to Beat the Heat!
How to Stay Cool When All You Wanna Do is Jump in The Pool.
July 18, 2024
Oh, the summers in Dubai! While people all over the world yearn for the summer to sip iced tea, spend time outdoors getting a tan at the beach, have cute picnics in parks, or visit the farmers’ markets, summers in Dubai are a bit like that, but maybe for those who've been to the sun and back. For the rest of us, summers in the UAE can be quite daunting. Everyone seems to be fleeing, either back home or on a holiday. With the heat and humidity dancing a fierce tango, we find ourselves clinging to our air conditioners. I don’t think anyone can ever come to terms with how intense it gets.
While we may not be able to change the weather, here are a few tips and tricks on how to stay cool!
Stay Sun Smart
Try to avoid being outside during the hottest parts of the day. If you must go out:
Use sunscreen and reapply regularly.
Wear a hat to keep your head covered.
Take breaks indoors or in shady spots to prevent getting a heat stroke.
Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes to stay comfortable.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water and avoid caffeine, which can dehydrate you. Consider isotonic sports drinks to replenish electrolytes lost through sweat.
Eat Light and Stay Cool
Choose light, balanced meals that are easy to digest in hot weather.
Foods with high water content like strawberries, cucumber, and lettuce can help keep you hydrated.
Soups and stews can also contribute to your fluid intake.
Time Your Activities
Schedule physical activities for cooler parts of the day, like early morning or evening.
Take extra breaks and stay hydrated if you exercise during the day.
Cool Off
Take a refreshing cold shower or bath to lower your body temperature and feel more comfortable.
These tips should help you stay comfortable and safe during the hot weather without feeling overwhelmed.
Lots of Love,
Safaa.
